SDI to HDMI Converter

The Jansicotek SDI2HDMI converts professional SD-SDI, HD-SDI and 3G-SDI signals to HDMI for display on standard monitors. It accepts 480i, 576i, 720p and 1080i/p formats at frame rates up to 60 Hz and outputs matching resolutions over HDMI 1.3a. The unit is aimed at camera operators, broadcast engineers and streaming setups that need to view SDI sources on consumer displays.

BNC and HDMI Connectivity

A single BNC input carries SDI with embedded audio at data rates of 270 Mb/s, 1.485 Gbps and 2.97 Gbps. One HDMI type A output and one SDI loop-through BNC let you feed both an HDMI screen and an SDI monitor simultaneously. Power comes from a USB DC 5 V/1 A adapter, and an LED indicator shows signal lock. The compact black enclosure measures 5.83 x 4.49 x 2.44 inches and weighs 7.8 ounces.

3G-SDI Bandwidth Ceiling

The converter tops out at 2.97 Gbps, so 1080p at 60 Hz is the highest supported format; 4K, higher frame rates or 12-bit colour are not possible. SMPTE 424/425 3G-SDI is the latest standard handled; newer 6G or 12G-SDI signals will not be recognised. Cascading multiple units is discouraged because re-clock stability can degrade. Buyers needing 4K or HDR workflows should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What SDI data rates does the 1 x BNC input handle?

The BNC input accepts SD-SDI at 270 Mb/s, HD-SDI at 1.485 Gbps and 3G-SDI at 2.97 Gbps, with automatic detection of the incoming standard.

What are the unit’s dimensions and weight for rack or shelf mounting?

The converter measures 5.83 x 4.49 x 2.44 inches and weighs 7.8 ounces, so it fits on a shelf or can be secured with Velcro or brackets in a rack.

How is the device powered and what common mistake should I avoid?

Connect the supplied USB DC 5 V / 1 A adapter to the micro-USB power port; the mistake is powering it from a computer USB port that cannot deliver 1 A reliably.
