10 ft DisplayPort 1.4 cable for high refresh gaming

This 10 ft cable carries a 32.4 Gbps HBR3 signal between a DisplayPort 1.4 source and a DisplayPort 1.4 display. It supports 8K at 60 Hz, 4K at 144 Hz and 1080p at 240 Hz for competitive gaming. The male-to-male connectors are gold plated and the jacket uses nylon braid over PVC. It suits PC builders who need a long, high bandwidth link for a single monitor.

Replaces older DP 1.2 cables that cap at lower

Moving from a DP 1.2 cable to this DP 1.4 cable adds 50 percent more bandwidth, enabling 4K at 144 Hz or 2K at 240 Hz without compression artefacts. The jump is worth it when your graphics card and monitor both advertise DP 1.4 or HBR3 and you want the full refresh rate at native resolution. If your hardware stops at DP 1.2 the extra headroom goes unused.

Limited by the 10 ft copper run and DP 1.4 spec

At 10 ft the copper conductors still meet the 32.4 Gbps HBR3 requirement, but longer copper cables would need active signal boosting. The cable cannot exceed the DP 1.4 maximum of 32.4 Gbps, so 8K at 120 Hz or 4K at 240 Hz are not possible without Display Stream Compression. It also cannot carry power or data beyond the DisplayPort auxiliary channel.

Questions about this item

How much clearance do the aluminium alloy shells need behind my monitor and graphics card?

Each male DisplayPort 1.4 connector has an aluminium alloy shell that adds a few millimetres beyond the port face; allow at least 20 mm of rear clearance so the braided jacket can bend without stress.

Which end goes to the GPU and which to the monitor, or does it not matter?

The cable is bi‑directional with identical male‑to‑male DP 1.4 ends; plug either connector into the graphics card and the other into the display — both support the full 32.4 Gbps HBR3 link.

Will the gold‑plated pins or the braided jacket need any upkeep over time?

The 24K gold‑plated pins resist oxidation and the nylon‑braid jacket is passive; no cleaning or re‑termination is required unless the cable is physically damaged.
