The link runs at 48Gbps using HBR3 and Display Stream Compression, so the source must support DP Alt Mode over USB-C or Thunderbolt 3/4 to reach 8K@60Hz. Without Alt Mode the cable falls back to lower resolutions, and legacy HDMI 1.4 or 2.0 sinks will cap the output at their own maximums.
