Share four USB 3.0 peripherals between two computers with one-button switching and no drivers required
This Jansicotek KVM switch lets two computers share four USB 3.0 peripherals with a single button press. It suits home users and small offices that want to avoid swapping cables or configuring network sharing for printers, scanners, keyboards, mice or storage drives. The device works with Windows, macOS, Linux and Chrome OS without driver installation. A front-panel LED shows which system is active.
The switch draws power from the USB bus so no external supply is needed for typical keyboards, mice or flash drives. An optional micro-USB port accepts a standard 5 V adapter (not included) to stabilise operation with higher-draw devices such as portable hard drives or SSDs. Only a 5 V source is permitted; higher voltages will degrade performance.
Under continuous use the switch maintains a stable USB 3.0 link for all four connected devices across both computers. The optional 5 V input prevents drop-outs when multiple power-hungry peripherals operate simultaneously. One-button switching remains responsive during long sessions, letting two users alternate access without software overhead or cable changes.

Connect both computers to the two upstream ports and attach up to four USB 3.0 peripherals to the downstream ports. The step often missed is plugging a standard 5 V adapter into the micro-USB power port when using power-hungry devices such as external hard drives or SSDs.
No scheduled maintenance is required. If the optional 5 V power adapter fails or is lost, replace it with another standard 5 V unit; using any charger with a higher voltage output is not allowed and may affect product performance.
The bus-powered design can become the limiting factor when all four ports drive high-current peripherals simultaneously. Adding the optional 5 V adapter via the micro-USB power port removes this constraint and keeps USB 3.0 speeds stable.
