Diagnostic cable for VAG vehicles
This USB cable connects a PC to the 16-pin OBD-II port on Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT or Skoda models from 1994 onwards. It runs the VAG-COM 409.1 software to read and clear diagnostic trouble codes when the check engine light appears. An electronic isolator protects both the vehicle and the computer during communication.
Suits owners of compatible petrol models needing
Buyers who want to diagnose diesel engines should look elsewhere because the cable does not support them. It also cannot be used with vehicles that require the higher 704, 805, 812, 908, 912 or 10.6 cable versions. A 2x2 pin adapter is necessary if the car's data link connector uses that layout instead of the standard 16-pin OBD-II style.
Check your car before ordering
Verify that the vehicle is a petrol model built from 1994 onward with a standard 16-pin OBD-II connector. Confirm the diagnostic software version required is 409.1 or older, as newer cable revisions are not supported. Ensure a 2x2 pin adapter is available if the connector on your specific model differs from the standard layout.

Questions about this item
My laptop only has USB-C — what extra hardware is required to connect this cable?
A USB-C to USB-A adapter is needed because the cable terminates in a standard USB-A plug.
Will the 409.1 cable still talk to a 1994 Volkswagen that uses a single K-line instead of dual K-lines?
Yes — the interface is fully backwards compatible with older cars that rely on a single K-line or K-plus-L connection.
After plugging it in, how do I confirm the cable is communicating with the car?
The built-in LED lights up when data is flowing between the PC and the vehicle ECU.
