Proportional Actuator for Building Automation

The Johnson Controls actuator delivers proportional control for damper valves in building automation systems. It accepts a 24V AC supply and connects through screw terminals. The unit mounts directly without additional brackets and carries a NEMA 1 and IP40 rating for indoor use.

35 in-lb Rated Torque Determines Fit

Rated torque of 35 in-lb is the single figure that decides whether this actuator can drive the intended damper. Spring return is not included, so the shaft remains in position without power. Rotation direction is selectable between clockwise and counter-clockwise to match the damper linkage.

Self-Centering Clamping Shaft Simplifies

The self-centering clamping shaft grips round or square shafts without separate couplers, reducing assembly time. A 93-degree stroke and 30-second closing time suit typical modulating damper sequences. Maximum operating temperature of 140°F covers standard mechanical-room environments.

Questions about this item

What does 35 in-lb of torque actually deliver when the actuator is installed?

It provides proportional control of dampers or valves with 35 in-lb rated torque, suitable for building automation systems.

How does the 24V AC input and screw-terminal connection limit what controllers can drive it?

The actuator requires a 24V AC supply wired to screw terminals, so the controller must provide that voltage and wiring method.

What mounting clearance and shaft arrangement does the direct-mount, self-centering design need?

It mounts directly with a self-centering clamping shaft that rotates 93 degrees CW or CCW and fits NEMA 1, IP40 enclosures.
