Compact Travel Boompole for Field Audio

The K-Tek KE-79 is a 6-section aluminum boompole built for ENG, EFP and DV location production. It collapses to 20 inches so it fits inside any standard equipment case, yet extends to 79 inches for overhead microphone placement. The lightweight tubing keeps the kit manageable during long shooting days.

Jam-Resistant Collars Simplify Setup

Proprietary collar couplings lock each section with minimal torque, eliminating the stuck joints common on lesser poles. The pole top includes cable retention slots to keep wiring tidy and a replaceable stainless steel mounting stud that can be swapped if threads wear out. No special tools are required for field adjustments.

79-Inch Reach Covers Standard Overhead Work

At full extension the pole handles typical boom distances for interview, narrative and documentary sound capture. Beyond 79 inches the operator loses rigid control, so wider shots demand a longer pole or a different rigging approach. The 20-inch collapsed length ensures it always travels in the same case as the recorder and mixer.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the KE-79 extends to its full 79" length and locks securely?

Extend each of the six sections until the jam-resistant collar couplings engage with a firm twist; the pole should reach 79" without any section slipping or rotating under the microphone's weight.

What comes in the box with the KE-79 and what must I purchase separately?

The box contains the 6-section aluminum boom pole with its integrated stainless steel mounting stud and cable retention slots; a microphone shock mount, windscreen and connecting cable are not included and must be bought separately.

The product name shows 20" to 79" — is there any other version or capacity I should consider?

The KE-79 is offered only in this single 6-section configuration that collapses to 20" and extends to 79"; no alternate lengths or section counts exist for this model.
