Product identity

Kalypso Media 27636 delivers Airline Tycoon 2 as a Steam-activated downloadable strategy game. The title places players in charge of an international airline, tasking them with designing unique aircraft and expanding a modest carrier into a globally recognised brand while competing against active rivals across worldwide airports.

Audience fit

Strategy enthusiasts who enjoy tongue-in-cheek economic simulations and have a Steam account on Windows XP, Vista or 7 will find the experience familiar and accessible. Buyers using operating systems beyond those listed, or who lack a Steam account, cannot activate or run the software.

Deciding specification

The game requires DirectX 9.0c and a video card equivalent to a GeForce 8600 GT or Radeon X 1800 with at least 1 GB of system memory and a 3 GHz Pentium D or Athlon 64 3000+ processor. If the target machine cannot meet those baseline requirements the title will not launch.

Questions about this item

Does the Steam DRM require a permanent internet connection to play Airline Tycoon 2?

Steam must be online for the initial activation and any updates, but the game itself can be launched in Steam Offline Mode once it is fully installed and verified.

What are the minimum video card requirements for the 27636 release?

The minimum supported graphics hardware is an Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT or an ATI Radeon X 1800 with DirectX 9.0c capability.

How do I install the downloadable version after purchasing the online code?

Redeem the code in the Steam client via Games → Activate a Product on Steam, then let the client download and install the title; a common mistake is trying to run a separate installer file that does not exist.
