Two Independent Outdoor Outlets

The Kasa Smart EP40 provides two separately controlled AC sockets in a single IP64-rated housing. Each outlet supports up to 15 amps and 1875 watts, making it suitable for landscape lighting, pool pumps or seasonal decorations. The unit connects to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and offers a wireless range of up to 300 feet in open areas. No separate hub is required for operation.

Mount with Clamp or Plug Directly

Installation uses the included clamp and screw for a fixed mount or the six-inch power cord for a standard outlet. The device only joins 2.4 GHz networks, so a 5 GHz-only router will not work. The Kasa app guides the pairing process, but the phone must be on the same 2.4 GHz band during setup. A weather-resistant cover protects unused sockets from dust and splashing water.

IP64 Weather Resistance Decides Suitability

The IP64 rating certifies protection against dust ingress and splashing water from any direction. This fits covered patios, eaves or vertical surfaces that see rain splash but not immersion. Buyers who need a device rated for direct jet spray, temporary submersion or permanent ground-level exposure should choose a higher-rated enclosure instead.

Questions about this item

How do I verify the EP40 is working correctly after setup?

Open the Kasa app and toggle each outlet separately; both should respond instantly and show real-time on/off status. Voice commands through Alexa or Google Assistant must also switch each socket individually.

What comes in the box and what must I supply myself?

The package includes the smart outdoor plug with a 6-inch cable, a mounting clamp, a screw and a quick start guide. You only need a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and the free Kasa app on your smartphone.

Which version should I choose for a 15 A landscape-lighting circuit?

The EP40 provides two independently controlled outlets, each rated at 15 A and 1875 W, matching a standard 15 A outdoor circuit. Select this model when you need dual control on a single 15 A feed.
