Replacement AC Adapter for Gateway Laptops

This Kastar AC adapter replaces the original charger for a wide range of Gateway NE, NV and NV50-series notebooks. It supplies 19 V at 3.42 A for a total of 65 W output and accepts 100-240 V AC input at 1.6 A, 50/60 Hz. The barrel connector measures 1.7 mm inner diameter by 5.5 mm outer diameter. A three-prong power cord is included in the box.

Sustained-Load Behaviour and Protection

The adapter delivers its rated 65 W continuously while built-in OVP, OCP and SCP circuits guard against over-voltage, over-current and short-circuit events at the output. Protection activates automatically when limits are exceeded, allowing the unit to run under full load without external cooling requirements. The wide 100-240 V input range maintains stable output during mains fluctuations.

Connector and Compatibility Limits

Only laptops that require exactly 19 V, 3.42 A and the 1.7 mm by 5.5 mm barrel plug can use this adapter; models needing higher wattage, different voltage or a different tip size are not supported. The three-prong cord fits standard earthed mains sockets but will not work with two-pin outlets unless an appropriate earthed adapter is used.

Questions about this item

How warm does the 19V 3.42A 65W adapter get when powering a Gateway NV55C all day?

The unit includes over-voltage, over-current and short-circuit protection, so it regulates output and limits heat build-up during continuous use.

Does the package include the 3-prong AC cord needed to plug the 1.7mm/5.5mm DC jack into a UK socket?

Yes, the box contains one Kastar AC adapter and one 3-prong extended power cord ready for mains connection.

Will this 65W supply work with an older Gateway NV52L15u that originally shipped with a lower-wattage charger?

It is listed as compatible with the NV52L15u among other models, so it will safely power that laptop.
