The Kastar BN-VC296G is a compact LCD charger built for JVC GY-HC500 and GY-HC550 series handheld cameras. It accepts two compatible Li-Ion batteries simultaneously, making it suited for video crews who need spare packs ready during long shoots. The unit ships without batteries and relies on a 5 V USB power source.

Installation uses Micro-USB

Connect the charger to any 5 V 2–3 A USB supply using the supplied Micro-USB cable or a Type-C lead. The LCD shows charge status and capacity for each bay. The only common issue is attempting to charge from a low-current port, which slows or halts the process.

Sustained charging delivers 800 mA per bay

When both bays are occupied the charger maintains 800 mA to each battery without dropping current. The 15 W input limit keeps thermals low during extended sessions. It is not designed for high-amperage rapid charging beyond the rated output.
