Replacement BP-718 Li-ion battery

The Kastar BP-718 is a 3.7V 1900mAh lithium-ion cell built as a direct replacement for Canon BP-718, BP-709 and BP-727 packs. It fits a wide range of Canon VIXIA and LEGRIA camcorders including the HF M606, HF M706 and HF M806 models.

Built-in protection circuit

The cell includes over-charge, over-discharge, over-voltage, over-current and over-heating safeguards and meets UL1642 and CE safety standards. It charges in the Canon CG-700 charger so no extra equipment is required.

7.1 Wh capacity for extended recording

At 7.1 Wh the battery supports long shooting sessions on compatible camcorders such as the VIXIA HF R800 and LEGRIA HF M88. Runtime will fall short for users needing multi-day power without recharging or a second pack.

Questions about this item

When will the 3.7V 1900mAh Li-Ion cell need replacing?

Expect several hundred charge cycles before capacity drops below 80%; store at roughly half charge if unused for weeks.

What stops the 7.1 Wh pack during long recording sessions?

The built-in protection circuit cuts output if voltage, current or temperature exceed safe limits.

How hot does the BP-718 get when the camcorder runs all day?

Normal operation stays warm but within the UL1642 and CE thermal limits; the over-heating protection activates only under fault conditions.
