What it is

The Kastar BP-930G is a compact AC wall charger with a foldable flat plug for easy storage. It accepts a universal input of 100 to 240 volts and delivers a DC output of 8.4 volts at 600 milliamps. A built-in LED shows red while charging and green when the battery is full or on standby. The unit measures three by two by one inches and contains no battery itself.

Who it suits

This charger works with a long list of Canon BP-series batteries including the 925, 930, 935, 945, 950, 955, 970, 970G and 975 models. It also supports many Canon camcorder and cinema bodies such as the C2, FV1, DM-MV1, EOS C100, C300 and C500 families, plus XF, XH, XL, XM, XV, GL, MV, Optura, UC and V series units. Buyers needing a charger for non-Canon batteries or for Canon packs outside the listed BP range should look elsewhere.

Deciding specification

The charger output is fixed at 8.4 volts and 600 milliamps, matching the voltage and current profile of the compatible BP lithium-ion packs. Only batteries rated for that exact charging profile will charge correctly and safely.
