Four-pack Li-ion camera battery

The Kastar BP-950G EXP pack contains four lithium-ion cells rated at 7.4V and 7000mAh each, delivering 51.8Wh per unit. They serve as direct replacements for a long list of Canon camcorder models from the GL, MV, Optura and XF series. Videographers who need extended runtimes for event or documentary work can carry all four in a compact bag.

USB-C charging and power-bank limits

Each battery accepts a USB-C input up to 5V/3A or 9V/2A, so it can be topped up from a wall charger or portable power source without a dedicated cradle. The built-in circuit caps the output at 5V 2.5A when the cell is used as a power bank, which is enough for phones or small accessories but not for powering the camera itself while recording.

7000mAh capacity and protection headroom

At 7000mAh the cells provide substantially more recording time than lower-capacity BP-930 or BP-945 equivalents, yet they still fit the same battery compartment. Integrated safeguards stop over-charge, over-discharge, over-voltage, over-current and over-heating, so the pack survives heavy daily cycles. Users who require hot-swap redundancy beyond four units will need additional packs.

Questions about this item

How do I know if one of these four BP-950G EXP batteries matches the BP-950 or BP-970G I currently use?

The pack replaces every model from BP-911 through BP-980G Pro, so a BP-950 or BP-970G is covered.

What does the 51.8 Wh rating actually give me during a shoot?

At 7.4 V and 7000 mAh the cells store 51.8 Wh, delivering roughly the same run-time as the original high-capacity Canon packs.

Can I recharge the batteries with the USB-C port on my laptop charger?

Yes, each cell accepts 5 V 3 A or 9 V 2 A over USB-C, so any compliant PD charger will top them up.
