Kastar LTD2 Dual USB Charger

The Kastar LTD2 is a dual-bay USB charger designed for Canon BP-718, BP-709 and BP-727 lithium-ion batteries. It powers two packs simultaneously from any 5 V 2–3 A source via Micro-USB or USB-C input. An integrated LCD panel shows charge level and status for each bay. The compact unit measures roughly five by three by one inches and includes a Micro-USB cable.

Videographers using compatible Canon camcorders

This charger suits owners of Canon VIXIA HF M, R and LEGRIA HF M series camcorders that use the BP-718 family of batteries. It replaces the Canon CG-700 and adds the convenience of USB power from power banks, laptops or wall adapters. Users who need to charge batteries other than the BP-709, BP-718 or BP-727 should look at a different charger, as the supplied plate only fits those three models.

Dual-bay simultaneous charging

The defining specification is the ability to charge two BP-series batteries at once at 800 mA each from a single 15 W USB input. This throughput lets a videographer top up a spare pack while the other is in the camera, reducing downtime on location. If your workflow only ever requires one battery at a time, a single-bay charger will occupy less space in your kit.

Questions about this item

Does the Kastar LTD2 charger include any BP-718 batteries or must they be purchased separately?

The package contains one dual-slot charger with a Micro-USB cable; batteries are not included and must be bought separately.

Which Canon battery models does the LTD2 support for simultaneous dual charging?

It charges two Canon BP-709, BP-718 or BP-727 packs at the same time using the interchangeable plate.

What does the 800 mA output per slot mean when charging a BP-718 in the camera?

Each slot delivers 4.2 V at 800 mA, so a depleted BP-718 reaches full capacity in roughly two to three hours.
