Compact power kit for Canon PowerShot users

This set pairs a lithium-ion NB-4L battery with a quadruple USB charger that handles up to four cells at once. It targets photographers who carry several PowerShot models such as the SD780 IS, SD940 IS, SD960 IS, SD970 IS, SD1000, SD1100 IS or SD1400 IS and want a single charging station. The pack delivers 5.6 Wh at 3.7 V with a 1500 mAh cell.

Charger limited to USB 5 V input

The unit draws 5 V at 2-3 A (15 W) through either Micro-USB or Type-C and splits output to 4.2 V 800 mA for one or two batteries, dropping to 500 mA when three or four are inserted. No mains plug is included so a suitable USB power source must be supplied separately. The intelligent display shows status and capacity but cannot accelerate beyond these fixed rates.

Replaces single-bay Canon CB-2LV chargers

Owners of older IXUS, IXY or ELPH models that originally shipped with a one-bay CB-2LV gain the ability to prepare four spares overnight instead of cycling them one by one. The jump is worthwhile when a shoot day demands more than two full batteries; users who rarely exceed a single charge cycle will see little benefit.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the single-battery pack or look for a multi-battery kit?

The pack includes one 1500mAh battery and a charger that can handle four batteries at once, so you can add more cells later.

What does the 1500mAh rating mean for shooting time in my PowerShot?

At 3.7V and 5.6Wh the cell stores roughly the same energy as the original NB-4L, giving comparable shots per charge.

How fast will the USB charger actually refill a drained NB-4L?

With one or two batteries it delivers 800mA per slot, dropping to 500mA each when three or four are charging together.
