Compact aluminium fountain pen

The Kaweco Liliput Black is a fine-nib fountain pen made from lightweight aluminium with a black finish. At 9.7 cm closed and 8.7 cm open, it is one of the smallest fountain pens available, designed to fit in any pocket or bag. The metal construction is durable and resists visible change with daily use. It suits writers who want a reliable, minimal pen for everyday carry.

Threaded cap and pocket dimensions

The cap screws onto the barrel for secure closure and can be posted to reach a length of 12.5 cm for a more conventional writing grip. Aluminium keeps the weight low while providing a solid feel in hand. The straightforward design has no clips or moving parts beyond the cap threads, so it slides in and out of tight pockets without snagging. Hand assembly in Nuremberg adds a layer of individual quality control.

Step up from disposable or plastic pens

This pen replaces throwaway ballpoints and fragile plastic fountain pens with a refillable, all-metal instrument that accepts standard international cartridges. The fine nib suits small handwriting and detailed notes, while the range of available nib widths lets users match the line to their style. Buyers who need a broad calligraphy nib or a built-in piston filler will find those features absent here.

Questions about this item

What are the exact dimensions when the pen is closed, open and posted?

It measures 9.7 cm closed, 8.7 cm open without the cap, and 12.5 cm with the cap posted on the barrel end.

How do you install a cartridge in this piston-free fountain pen and what mistake should be avoided?

Unscrew the barrel, press a standard international cartridge straight onto the nipple until it seats, then screw the barrel back; do not force the cartridge at an angle or the seal may leak.
