Two-Way Radios for Children

The KEHIPI RA18 two-way radios are sold as a 2-pack in green. Each unit weighs 75 grams and measures 5.5 in x 3.2 in x 14.5 in. They operate on 22 channels within the 462.5625 to 462.7125 MHz frequency band and offer a range of 1 kilometer. The set is intended for children aged 6 to 12 years old.

Suits families wanting simple contact.

These walkie talkies suit parents and children who want instant push-to-talk communication during trick-or-treating, camping or skiing trips without relying on mobile phones. The VOX function allows hands-free operation and the integrated LED flashlight helps during evening activities. Buyers needing water resistance or longer range for demanding environments should look elsewhere as the units are not water resistant.

Handles neighbourhood play

The 22 channels combined with 99 CTCSS/DCS codes provide plenty of options to find a clear channel for one-to-one or one-to-many chats. Power comes from four AAA batteries per unit which are not included. The radio comfortably handles local communication up to the stated 1 kilometer range but runs out beyond that distance or in conditions requiring weatherproof hardware.

Questions about this item

What power source do the KEHIPI RA18 radios need to operate?

Each radio requires four AAA batteries, which are not included in the pack.

Can these 22-channel radios communicate with older FRS models that have fewer channels?

Yes, as long as the older radios share the same 462.5625 to 462.7125 MHz frequencies and matching CTCSS or DCS codes.

How do I confirm the KEHIPI RA18 units are transmitting and receiving correctly after inserting batteries?

Press the push-to-talk button and listen for the roger beep tone; the backlit LCD will also show the active channel and signal indicator.
