Ultra-slim 2-in-1 duplicator

The KEHIPI TP520 is an external CD and DVD drive that also functions as a USB hub with integrated SD and TF card readers. It is designed for laptop and desktop users whose computers lack a built-in optical drive. The unit is powered entirely through the USB connection, so no separate power adapter is required. It works with Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems.

USB 3.0 Type-C interface at 5 Gbps

The drive connects via a USB 3.0 Type-C cable that is also compatible with USB Type-A ports. It delivers a maximum data transfer rate of 5 Gbps and supports maximum read and write speeds of 24x for CD media and 8x for DVD media. The interface is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1, ensuring it will work with older ports at reduced speeds.

Plug-and-play with broad OS support

The device requires no driver installation on Windows 11, 10, 8, 7, XP, 98, SE, ME, 2000, Vista, Linux or Mac OS 10.6 and above. On Mac systems the drive icon appears only after a disc is inserted and read successfully. For desktop PCs, connecting to a rear motherboard USB port is recommended to ensure sufficient power. It does not support TVs, tablets, phones, game consoles, Chromebooks, some Surface models, Ubuntu or Blu-ray discs.

Questions about this item

What does the 5 Gbps transfer rate mean when I am actually burning discs?

The 5 Gbps link is the USB 3.0 ceiling; real write speeds top out at 8x for DVD and 24x for CD, so the drive itself limits throughput well below the bus maximum.

Which USB standard does the drive use and what practical limit does it impose?

It uses USB 3.0 Type-A or Type-C, backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1, capping the connection at 5 Gbps while the drive’s own 8x DVD and 24x CD rates are lower.

What space do I need on my desk for the unit?

The enclosure measures 14.8 in by 14.3 in by 1.3 in, so allow at least that footprint plus room for cable routing and disc ejection.
