A USB 3.0 KVM switch lets two computers share three USB-A and one USB-C peripheral at up to 5 Gbps with push-button switching
The KEHIPI USB 3.0 KVM switch lets two computers share three USB 3.0 ports and one USB-C port. It is aimed at home or office users who want to keep a keyboard, mouse, printer or scanner connected without unplugging cables. The unit works with Windows, macOS, Linux and Chrome OS and requires no driver installation.
The switch draws power from a 5 V supply and includes a micro-USB port for optional external power when using high-draw peripherals such as external hard drives. Push-button switching with LED indicators shows which computer is active. Normal operation is silent and produces no noticeable heat.
Under continuous use the four downstream ports maintain USB 3.0 speeds up to 5 Gbps and remain backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices. The push-button circuit handles repeated switching without latency spikes, making it suitable for long file transfers or all-day peripheral sharing.

Connect the included USB cables from each computer to the two upstream ports, attach your four peripherals to the three USB 3.0 and one USB-C downstream ports, then plug the micro-USB power cable into a 5 V 800 mA adapter — skipping the external power is the step that causes dropped drives.
No scheduled maintenance is required; if the push-button selector or LED indicators fail after extended use, the entire unit would need replacement since no user-serviceable parts are inside.
The 5 V 800 mA power budget is the first ceiling — driving multiple bus-powered SSDs or HDDs simultaneously can exceed it, causing ports to disconnect until total draw drops back within the limit.
