This 12V WS2811 LED strip runs 5 metres and carries 150 individually addressable 5050 RGB LEDs grouped in threes. Each group is driven by a single WS2811 IC, allowing programmable colour effects such as chasing, fading and rainbow patterns. The reel is rated IP65 and uses a white flexible PCB coated in silicone for weather-resistant indoor or outdoor installations. It targets makers, hobbyists and installers building custom lighting for signs, architectural accents or interactive displays.

Check Voltage Controller and Power Before Installing

The strip requires a 12V DC supply capable of delivering up to 3A (36W) per full reel. You must provide a compatible programmable controller — such as a Raspberry Pi, Arduino, SP105E, SP108E, SP110E, SP106E, SP107E, SP501E or MHCTRWF5V — because none is included. Data runs at 800Kbps with a 2KHz port scan rate and uses a BRG colour order; verify your controller firmware supports this protocol. The reel ships with 3-pin JST-SM connectors on both ends plus separate power and ground wires for power injection on longer runs.

Upgrades Basic RGB Strips With Per-Group Control

Unlike standard analogue RGB tape that changes colour uniformly, this strip lets each 3-LED segment show its own hue and brightness, enabling complex animations and pixel-mapping effects. The 3M VHB foam backing replaces weaker hot-melt adhesives for a more durable mount on clean surfaces. Cut points occur every three LEDs so the reel can be shortened or rejoined by soldering at the marked lines. Buyers who need higher density, 5V operation, or a different IC protocol should look elsewhere.
