SmartFit Conform Back Rest

The Kensington K60412WW SmartFit Conform Back Rest is a black seating accessory designed for office workers who sit for long periods. It straps onto virtually any standard-size chair to add adjustable lumbar support. The SmartFit System lets you measure and set the height to a personal comfort colour for tailored spinal alignment. Four independent springs inside ventilated panels articulate with posture changes to match body shape.

Strap mounting limits

A single adjustable strap made of nylon and plastic wraps the chair back to hold the unit in place. The back rest measures 5.5 inches deep by 17.3 inches wide by 16.1 inches high (14 x 44 x 41 cm) and weighs 4.4 lb (2 kg). It fits standard chair widths but may not secure properly on extra-wide, contoured or very thin chair backs. The strap length is fixed, so chairs outside the typical range cannot be accommodated.

Easy strap installation

Installation requires threading the single strap around the chair back and tightening the buckle; no tools are needed. The height is then adjusted by sliding the frame to the chosen SmartFit colour setting. Common issues include the strap slipping on smooth chair materials or the buckle not cinching tightly enough on thicker backs. The ventilated nylon, plastic and steel construction is washable for simple cleaning.

Questions about this item

How do I pick the right SmartFit colour setting for my height?

Measure your hand from wrist to fingertip, match it to the SmartFit colour chart on the product, then slide the back rest on its strap until the indicator shows that colour.

What does the 16.1-inch height mean when the back rest is strapped to my chair?

The 16.1-inch panel covers the lumbar and mid-back area on most standard chairs, and the adjustable strap lets you centre that support zone at the height your SmartFit colour indicates.

How does the single nylon strap attach and what chair sizes does it fit?

The 17.3-inch wide back rest wraps around virtually any standard chair back and secures with one adjustable nylon-and-plastic strap.
