9-in-1 USB-C Docking Station

The Kensington SD4845P adds nine ports to a Windows notebook or Surface through a single USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 link. It suits professionals who need extra displays, wired networking and fast peripheral access without opening the laptop. Front and rear USB-A ports plus a front USB-C port all run at up to 10 Gb/s for storage and demanding accessories.

Triple-display video and front I/O

Two DisplayPort 1.4 outputs and one HDMI port drive three external monitors from one host connection. A front 3.5 mm combo audio jack keeps headsets within easy reach, while the RJ45 GbE LAN port provides a stable wired network alternative to Wi-Fi. The dock draws its video and data bandwidth from the host's USB-C port, so no separate graphics card is required.

Sustained 10 Gb/s throughput under load

All USB-A and USB-C ports maintain 10 Gb/s signalling during long file transfers or continuous peripheral use, avoiding the throttling seen on slower hubs. The GbE link holds a steady gigabit rate for extended downloads or video calls. Thermal design keeps the aluminium enclosure warm but within safe limits during all-day multi-monitor sessions.

Questions about this item

Will the 10 Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 2 bandwidth become the bottleneck when I run multiple high-speed drives and two 4K displays all day?

The host link and every USB-A port share a 10 Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 2 pipe, so simultaneous heavy storage traffic and dual-display video can saturate that single upstream connection.

Does the SD4845P get hot or noisy when it drives two DisplayPort 1.4 monitors, an HDMI screen and gigabit Ethernet continuously?

The unit has no fan and relies on passive cooling; sustained multi-display and Ethernet loads will warm the metal enclosure but it stays silent.

My laptop only has a USB-C port that supports data — will the SD4845P still drive video and Ethernet through it?

Video and Ethernet require a USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode; a data-only USB-C port will not activate the DisplayPort 1.4 or HDMI outputs.
