6.8″ HD Receiver with Backup Camera

The Kenwood DMX958XR is a 6.8-inch digital multimedia receiver built for drivers who want smartphone integration and a rear-view camera in one package. A capacitive touch panel controls the high-definition display. The box includes the CMOS-230LP camera and a licence-plate mounting kit for straightforward installation.

Upgrade from Basic Head Units

This receiver replaces factory radios or older aftermarket units that lack Android Auto, Apple CarPlay or a camera input. The jump is worth it when you need wireless Android Auto, wired and wireless CarPlay, high-resolution wireless audio and wireless mirroring for Android devices. Four camera inputs and three 5.0 V pre-outs add expansion room for future upgrades.

Suits Owners Needing a Complete Kit

Drivers who want a single purchase covering the screen, smartphone connectivity and a waterproof rear camera with clear night view will find the kit convenient. Buyers who need more than four camera inputs or a different mounting style for the camera should look at other options.

Questions about this item

What size cut-out does the 6.8" receiver need?

The receiver uses a standard double-DIN chassis; check the vehicle kit for the exact opening dimensions and depth clearance behind the dash.

Which step is often missed when routing the CMOS-230LP camera cable?

The 24.5 ft harness must pass through the tailgate grommet and be secured away from moving parts before connecting to the rear camera input.

When should the CMOS-230LP camera lens be cleaned?

Clean the lens whenever night view clarity drops; the waterproof housing handles pressure washing but road salt buildup reduces the 325,000 pixel sensor's low-light performance.
