Kenwood 6x9 5-Way Car Speakers

The Kenwood KFC-6998RS is a pair of 6x9 oval 5-way speakers built for car owners who want a direct factory-location upgrade. They deliver 150 watts RMS and 720 watts peak power at 4 ohms. The low-profile tweeter height allows them to fit most original mounting spots without modification. Buyers needing a component system with separate crossovers should look elsewhere.

Diamond Array Woofer and Harmonizer

The Diamond Array Pattern woofer cone is designed to enhance sound and reduce distortion during daily driving. An Acoustic Sound Harmonizer controls woofer sound waves by allowing only certain frequencies through the tweeter panel holes for smoother output. Black painted yoke and plate parts release heat efficiently inside the magnetic circuit, lowering voice coil temperature for improved durability. The optimized woofer damper shape adds stress leveling points for longer life.

Sound Field Enhancer and Auto Setup

The unique tweeter shape creates strong frontward sound and a wider sound field in 5kHz and higher frequencies for better imaging. An auto speaker setup feature simplifies initial configuration for the listener. These bundled technologies work together to produce a natural sound stage without requiring external processors or additional tuning equipment.

Questions about this item

How many watts RMS can the 4-ohm KFC-6998RS handle continuously?

The KFC-6998RS is rated for 150 watts RMS at 4 ohms, giving a realistic measure of continuous power handling for amplifier matching.

Will the low-profile tweeter on the KFC-6998RS fit my factory 6x9 openings?

Yes, the tweeter height is designed as low as possible so the speakers fit most factory locations without modification.

What wiring step is often missed when installing the KFC-6998RS 5-way speakers?

Observing correct polarity on each terminal is the step most often missed; reversing positive and negative leads degrades imaging and bass response.
