What the KFC-X463C replaces

The Excelon KFC-X463C serves as a direct replacement for worn or blown factory 4" x 6" speakers. The 2-way design adds a dedicated 1" PEI balanced dome tweeter that stock single-cone units lack, so high-frequency detail improves immediately. Upgrading is worthwhile when the original speakers distort at moderate volume or when the surround has deteriorated. Factory wiring and mounting locations are used without modification.

Sustained output behaviour

With an RMS rating of 30 watts per speaker and 60 watts per pair, the KFC-X463C maintains clean output during extended listening sessions. The 3-ohm impedance draws more current from the amplifier, so thermal compression is low even when driven continuously near rated power. The butyl rubber surround resists fatigue and the carbon-polypropylene cone retains stiffness, preventing the mid-bass from softening after hours of play. Peak handling of 100 watts each covers short transients without damage.

Questions about this item

Will the 1-7/8" top-mount depth fit my door panel?

The speaker requires 1-7/8" of clearance behind the mounting surface; measure your door cavity to confirm it exceeds this depth.

What wiring step is often missed with the 3-ohm impedance?

Verify your head unit or amplifier is stable at 3 ohms; many factory radios expect 4 ohms and can overheat or shut down if the mismatch is ignored.

How often should I check the butyl rubber surround?

Inspect the surround annually for cracking or hardening; butyl rubber resists UV and heat well, but extreme climates can accelerate ageing and affect cone movement.
