Rectangular laser distance sensor detects objects from 35 to 250 mm with selectable response times of 1.5, 10 or 50 ms and NPN open-collector output
The Keyence LR-ZB250AN is a rectangular distance-based laser sensor designed for precise position detection in factory automation and process control. It suits engineers who need reliable non-contact measurement across a 35 to 250 mm range using a Class 1 red laser at 660 nm. The fixed 2 m cable simplifies installation inside machinery or on conveyor lines.
Under continuous use the sensor maintains stable performance with three selectable response times of 1.5 ms, 10 ms, or 50 ms to match line speed. Standard detectable deviation is 9 mm from 35 to 180 mm and 25 mm from 180 to 250 mm. Power consumption stays at 450 mW or less, drawing 18 mA at 24 V or 34 mA at 12 V, while built-in protection circuits guard against reverse polarity, output overcurrent and surge events.
The control output is an NPN open collector rated for 30 VDC maximum applied voltage and 100 mA control current, with residual voltage of 1.2 V at 10 mA or 2 V at 10 to 100 mA. This output type determines whether the sensor integrates directly with your PLC input modules or requires an additional interface. A 3-digit 7-segment display with status indicators provides local diagnostics during setup and maintenance.

At 24 VDC the sensor consumes 18 mA or less, which is 450 mW or less total power consumption.
The sensor operates on 10 to 30 VDC Class 2 or LPS power and comes with a fixed 2 m cable for connection.
Yes, the NPN output switches up to 30 VDC at 100 mA with residual voltage of 1.2 V at 10 mA or 2 V at 100 mA, compatible with typical 24 V PLC inputs.
