Dell XPS desktop compatibility

This 460 W ATX power supply is built as a direct replacement for Dell XPS 8100, 8300, 8700, 8900, 8910 and 8920 towers, plus R6 and R7 chassis. It suits owners of those systems who need a new unit that matches the original form factor and connector layout.

Form factor and connector check

Before ordering, confirm that your chassis accepts a standard ATX supply and that the existing cable harness matches the 24-pin main, CPU and peripheral connectors used by the listed Dell models. The unit is Modern Standby compatible, so the motherboard must support that sleep state for the fast-wake benefit to work.

Efficiency and noise upgrade

It replaces the original bronze or lower-rated unit with an 80 PLUS Gold design that cuts power draw, heat and fan noise. The resonant LLC topology with DC-to-DC conversion delivers cleaner voltage rails, while the zero-RPM mode keeps the fan off at low and medium loads. The jump is worth it when the old supply is noisy, failing or preventing Modern Standby sleep.

Questions about this item

Does the 460 W unit ship with all ATX cables or are modular leads sold separately?

The power supply is a fixed-cable ATX design so every connector needed for a standard build is already attached; no extra modular cables must be purchased.

Should I choose this model for a Dell XPS 8100 or for a newer 8920 chassis?

The supplier title lists compatibility with XPS 8100, 8300, 8700, 8900, 8910 and 8920, so the same 460 W unit fits all those desktops.

What does the 80 PLUS Gold rating actually deliver inside a working PC?

It guarantees at least 87 % efficiency at typical loads, which means less waste heat, quieter fan behaviour and lower electricity draw versus lower-rated units.
