A 235 W ATX power supply compatible with OptiPlex 580, 760, 780, 960 and 980 desktops, featuring 80 PLUS Gold efficiency, Modern Standby support.
This 235W ATX power supply replaces the original unit in Dell OptiPlex 580, 760, 780, 960 and 980 desktops. It matches the L235P-01, H235P-00, PW116, RM112, R224M, FR610, 67T67 and WU136 part numbers. The unit is new and designed as a direct swap for the factory-installed PSU. Builders working on other chassis or requiring higher wattage should look elsewhere.
80 PLUS Gold certification means high efficiency during typical workloads, reducing waste heat and lowering power draw. A Zero RPM fan mode stops the cooling fan completely at low and medium loads for near-silent operation. Resonant LLC topology with DC-to-DC conversion delivers clean power and reduces coil whine. Modern Standby support enables extremely fast wake-from-sleep times and better low-load efficiency.
Under continuous demand the resonant LLC design maintains stable voltage regulation and consistent power delivery. The DC-to-DC conversion stage keeps output clean during extended sessions, while the Gold-rated efficiency curve limits temperature rise inside the chassis. The fan engages only when thermal thresholds require active cooling, preserving quiet operation for longer periods. The 235W rating defines the maximum continuous output ceiling.

Align the unit with the chassis mounting holes, secure it with the four retention screws, then connect the 24-pin main and 4-pin CPU power cables; the step often missed is plugging in the 4-pin CPU connector near the socket.
Use compressed air to clear dust from the intake grill and fan blades every six to twelve months; the Zero RPM mode means the fan spins less, but dust still accumulates and can restrict airflow.
The 235W total output rating is the first ceiling; if combined rail draw reaches that figure the protection circuit will shut the unit down to prevent damage.
