Reducing bushing connects 1-inch and 1/2-inch IMC conduit in hazardous locations with electroplated steel construction
The Killark RE31S is a threaded steel reducing bushing finished in electroplated zinc. It connects 1 inch male NPT threads to 1/2 inch female NPT threads within Intermediate Metal Conduit systems. The fitting carries hazardous-location ratings for Class I Division 1 and 2, Class I Zones 1 and 2, and Class II Division 1 and 2 environments.
Use this bushing when a junction box or enclosure has a 1 inch threaded hub but the incoming IMC or threaded rigid conduit is 1/2 inch trade size. The jump is worth it whenever you must downsize a conduit entry without introducing a leak path or losing the hazardous-area rating. It eliminates the need for oversized conduit runs or makeshift reducer combinations.
Confirm the existing hub provides a 1 inch male NPT thread and that the conduit end is 1/2 inch female NPT. Ensure the installation environment falls within the listed Class I Groups A through D, Class II Groups E through G, and Zone classifications. Check that the 3/4 inch overall length and 13/16 inch height fit the available enclosure depth.

The bushing measures 1 5/16 in wide and 13/16 in high, so allow at least that much internal box space for the threaded body and nut to seat fully.
Engage the 1 in male NPT threads into the conduit or fitting first, then tighten the 1/2 in female side; reversing the order often cross-threads the smaller internal threads.
The factory electroplated zinc coating is the permanent corrosion barrier; no field re-coating is needed unless the surface is mechanically damaged during installation.
