This Kingston portable SSD delivers 512GB of storage in a durable metal casing with both USB Type-A and Type-C cables included. It connects to PCs, Macs, Linux, Android, iOS and iPad devices over a USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface. Sequential reads reach up to 1050MB/s and writes up to 950MB/s for fast file transfers on the go.

Suits users needing cross-device compatibility

The drive is built for people who move large files between devices with different USB ports and want a single cable-free solution. It is not suited for buyers who require internal drive speeds or storage capacities larger than 512GB.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 512GB version of this Kingston Dual Portable SSD?

The 512GB model gives you half a terabyte of portable storage with up to 1050MB/s read and 950MB/s write over USB 3.2 Gen 2. It includes both USB-A and USB-C cables for broad device compatibility.

What do the 1050MB/s read and 950MB/s write figures mean in daily use?

Those are maximum sequential speeds over USB 3.2 Gen 2. Large file transfers such as video projects or backups will approach these rates, while mixed workloads and random access will be slower.

How does the USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface with both USB-A and USB-C connectors affect performance?

The drive uses USB 3.2 Gen 2, capping at 10Gbps. With the included cables you can plug into USB-A or USB-C ports, but the speed limit remains the same regardless of connector type.
