128 GB USB 3.2 Gen 1 flash drive

The Kingston DataTraveler X provides 128 GB of portable storage with a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A connector. A protective cap shields the plug and a large loop attaches to a key ring. The black and yellow casing weighs 11 grams and measures 2.65 x 0.83 x 0.399 inches. It suits anyone who needs a compact drive for documents, music and video files.

Who should consider this and who should not

This drive suits students, office workers and home users who want a lightweight, cap-protected stick that clips to keys or a lanyard. Buyers who require hardware encryption or ruggedised water resistance should look at a different model. The single Type-A connector means it plugs directly into standard ports without an adapter.

Deciding specification: USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type

The USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A connection determines compatibility with the host device. Verify that the computer, monitor or other equipment offers a matching Type-A port before purchase. The 128 GB capacity and 11 gram weight remain fixed regardless of the host.

Questions about this item

Does the DTX/128GB come with a protective cap and keyring, or must I buy them separately?

The drive ships with a practical cap that covers the USB plug and a large colour loop that attaches directly to a key ring; nothing extra is required.

How does the 128 GB capacity compare with the other sizes available for this model?

This DataTraveler Exodia is offered up to 256 GB, so the 128 GB version sits in the middle of the range and suits everyday documents, photos and video files.

What does the USB 3.2 Gen 1 label mean for actual transfer speed on my laptop?

USB 3.2 Gen 1 supports up to 5 Gbit/s bandwidth, so large files move noticeably faster than on USB 2.0 ports while remaining compatible with older sockets.
