Portable SSD for creators and professionals

The Kingston XS2000 is a 500GB external solid-state drive built for photographers, videographers and mobile professionals who need fast, pocket-sized storage. It connects via USB Type-C and supports Windows 10, 8.1, Mac OS 10.14 or later, Linux 2.6 or later and Chrome OS. A removable rubber sleeve adds water resistance and durability for travel. The drive weighs 28.9g and measures 69.54mm by 32.58mm by 13.5mm.

Replaces slower external drives

This drive upgrades workflows that rely on older USB 3.0 or USB 3.1 Gen 1 portable SSDs and hard drives where transfer bottlenecks slow down offloading high-resolution images and 8K video. The jump is worth it when your host system has a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 port so the interface can deliver the rated 2,000MB/s sequential speeds. Without that port the drive will fall back to the host's maximum throughput and the full speed benefit is not realised.

Sustained transfer behaviour

Sequential read and write speeds reach up to 2,000MB/s over the USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 interface during large-file transfers such as video offloads. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 40°C; extended heavy workloads in warm environments may trigger thermal throttling that reduces throughput until the drive cools. Storage temperature tolerance spans -20°C to 85°C for safe transport.
