Active DI Box for Keyboards and Instruments
The Klark Teknik PRO DI ACTIVE DI 10A Box is an active direct injection unit built for keyboards, samplers and other electronic musical instruments. It connects high-impedance sources to mixing consoles with unity gain and without loading the signal. A custom MIDAS transformer preserves signal integrity across the audio path.
Replaces Passive DI Units for Active Sources
This unit upgrades from passive DI boxes when the source needs active buffering and extended dynamic range. The switchable input attenuator handles instrument, line and loudspeaker levels in one device. The jump is worth it for stages or studios where phantom power may be unreliable, because the 48 V supply automatically falls back to an internal 9 V battery if it fails.
Phantom Power and Battery Limits
Operation relies on console +48 V phantom power or a 9 V battery that is not included. The automatic switchover protects the signal only while one power source remains active; if both are lost the unit stops passing audio. The input circuit noise floor sits at -112 dBu, setting the practical limit for usable gain before noise becomes audible.

Questions about this item
What connectors does the Klark Teknik PRO DI ACTIVE DI 10A Box use for input and output?
It has a high-impedance 1/4" TRS input and a Neutrik XLR output for balanced connection to a mixing console.
How is the DI 10A powered and what happens if phantom power fails?
The unit runs on +48 V phantom power with a 9 V battery backup; it switches automatically to battery if phantom power is lost.
When will the internal battery need replacement and how is it accessed?
The 9 V battery (not included) powers the unit only when phantom power fails; replace it when the battery no longer holds charge by opening the rugged aluminium enclosure.
