Klein Tools 1004 Wire Stripper

The Klein Tools 1004 wire stripper handles 12 to 26 AWG solid and stranded conductors. It cuts, strips and loops wire in a single tool. Electricians and technicians use it for panel work, control wiring and field repairs. The dipped plastic handles provide a secure grip during repetitive use.

Manual Adjustable Wire Stripper Limits

The adjustable side stop sets the strip length manually for each job. The tool covers 12 to 26 AWG only; larger or smaller gauges need a different stripper. It requires hand force to operate and has no ratchet mechanism for high-volume production. The tether hole accepts a lanyard accessory but ships without one.

Upgrading from Fixed-Gauge Strippers

This model replaces single-gauge strippers when work spans multiple wire sizes. The 12 to 26 AWG range covers most residential and low-voltage control circuits. The jump is worth it when technicians carry one tool instead of several fixed-size strippers. It does not suit users who need automatic stripping or crimping functions.
