Trapezoidal crimping pliers for 14 to 24 AWG insulated and non-insulated ferrules, 5 3/4 in steel body with plastic grip
The Knipex 97-61-145-A is a trapezoidal crimping tool built for electricians and technicians who terminate insulated and non-insulated single ferrules. Its steel body and plastic grips deliver controlled compression across a 24 AWG to 14 AWG wire range. The 5 3/4 in length fits comfortably in a service pouch or bench drawer.
This crimper replaces improvised connections made with pliers or generic strippers that cannot form a gas-tight trapezoid profile. The jump is worth it when a project demands repeatable, standards-compliant ferrule terminations for control panels, automotive looms or industrial sensor wiring. Manual adjustability keeps the operator in charge of every crimp cycle.
The tool handles 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24 AWG conductors, covering the majority of signal and low-power supply leads found in panel building. It stops at 14 AWG, so heavier gauge power cables require a larger-frame crimper. No integrated cutter or stripper is included, so separate preparation tools remain necessary.

The pliers measure 5 3/4 in overall, so they fit most standard tool belt loops designed for compact hand tools.
Insert the insulated or non-insulated single ferrule fully into the trapezoidal die nest, align the seam with the die centre, then squeeze the handles completely until the ratchet releases.
The steel body resists wear; wipe the jaws clean after use and apply a light machine oil to the pivot occasionally — no scheduled jaw replacement is required.
