Kodak PIXPRO AZ405 20.7MP compact mirrorless camera

The Kodak PIXPRO AZ405 is a compact mirrorless camera built around a 20.68 megapixel CMOS sensor and a fixed 40x optical zoom lens. It records 1080p video at 30 frames per second and offers full manual exposure control alongside automated scene modes. Power comes from four AA batteries, rated for approximately 300 shots per CIPA standard.

Casual photographers wanting long reach without

This camera suits users who want a single device for distant subjects, panoramas and HD video with simple controls. It is not for buyers who need optical image stabilisation, raw file output, an electronic viewfinder, or rechargeable lithium-ion power. Low-light performance is limited to ISO 3200 maximum.

40x optical zoom lens without optical image

The defining specification is the 40x zoom lens which provides extensive reach but lacks built-in stabilisation. Steady handheld shooting at full telephoto requires good technique or support. If stabilised long zoom is essential, this model does not meet that need.

Questions about this item

How do I insert the four AA batteries correctly for the Kodak AZ405-BK?

Open the battery compartment on the bottom, then place four AA alkaline or NiMH cells inside following the polarity icons moulded into the housing; the camera will not power on if any cell is reversed.

When should I replace the AA cells in the AZ405-BK during a long shooting day?

Alkaline batteries last roughly 300 shots by CIPA measurement; carry a spare set of four and swap them once the low-battery icon appears or after about 120 minutes of 1080/30p video.

What limits continuous recording time on the AZ405-BK at 1080p?

Video clips stop at approximately 120 minutes or when the 4 GB file-size ceiling is reached, whichever occurs first.
