Kodak AZ405-RD compact mirrorless camera 20.7MP 40x zoom Red

What this camera is and who it suits

The Kodak PIXPRO AZ405-RD is a compact mirrorless camera with a 20.7 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor and a 40x optical zoom lens. It captures 4608 x 3456 resolution stills and records 1920 x 1080 video at 30fps. The 3.0 inch LCD and multiple shooting modes suit casual photographers wanting versatile reach without interchangeable lenses. It is not for buyers who need raw file output, external microphone input, or a larger sensor for low-light work.

Bundled power and what it changes

The camera runs on four AA alkaline batteries included in the box, delivering approximately 300 shots per CIPA testing. Optional AA NiMH rechargeable cells are supported but not supplied. This power choice lets users swap fresh cells anywhere without waiting for a recharge, though alkaline capacity limits extended video sessions to roughly 120 minutes at 1080p30. Buyers wanting USB charging or a proprietary high-capacity pack should look elsewhere.

Installing and common pitfalls

Setup requires inserting the four supplied AA batteries and an SD card (not included) before powering on. The pop-up flash must be raised manually when needed. A frequent issue is forgetting to format the card in-camera, which can cause write errors. The 4x digital zoom degrades image quality beyond the 40x optical range, so users should disable it for critical shots. Battery contacts should be kept clean for reliable starts.
