Portable instant printer for phone photos

The Kodak Step is a pocket-sized Bluetooth and NFC printer that turns pictures from any iOS or Android device into 2 x 3 inch sticky-back prints using zero-ink ZINK technology. Weighing under one pound with a built-in rechargeable battery, it is aimed at social-media users, crafters and anyone who wants physical photos without carrying a bulky machine.

Bluetooth range and paper capacity set the pace

The wireless link works only within typical Bluetooth distance, so the phone must stay close while each print is sent. The internal tray holds ten sheets of glossy ZINK paper at a time and the battery delivers about twenty-five prints per full charge, limiting batch size for events or travel.

ZINK 2 x 3 sticky-back paper is the deciding factor

This printer accepts only 2 x 3 inch ZINK media with embedded dye crystals; no ink cartridges, ribbons or other paper sizes work. If your project needs larger formats, different finishes or non-adhesive prints, this is not the right device.

Questions about this item

Which bundle capacity should I choose for the Zink 2x3 sticky-back paper?

The starter bundle includes 10 sheets of 2x3 inch Zink sticky-back paper, which is the only capacity offered for this package.

What does the 1 page per minute print speed mean when I am printing from my phone?

Each 2x3 inch photo takes roughly one minute to appear, so a batch of several prints will queue and finish sequentially.

How does the Bluetooth connection limit what I can print?

The printer pairs with iOS or Android devices via Bluetooth and NFC, and the Kodak app sends print jobs wirelessly from up to a few metres away.
