Koss KE5k Wired Earbuds

The Koss KE5k earphones are wired stereo earbuds with an open design. They present a 32 Ohm impedance and a frequency response of 70 Hz to 20 kHz. A 4 ft cable connects the earpieces to the source.

Listeners wanting simple wired earbuds

These suit anyone who prefers a basic wired connection without batteries or pairing. The open form factor lets ambient sound in, so they are less suited for noisy environments or for listeners who want strong isolation.

32 Ohm impedance for portable sources

The 32 Ohm rating means the earbuds work efficiently with low-voltage outputs such as phones, laptops and portable players. Higher-impedance models would need more drive voltage to reach the same volume.

Questions about this item

What limits listening time before ear fatigue sets in with the open earbud design?

The open form factor lets ambient sound mix with the audio, so volume often has to be raised, which can tire the ears sooner than sealed designs.

Do the earbuds get warm or draw noticeable power during all-day use?

Passive 32 Ohm drivers draw very little current from the source device, so the earbuds themselves stay at room temperature and add negligible load to the battery.

Which source connector must the player or phone provide for the wired cable?

The cable terminates in a standard stereo plug that matches the common headphone jack found on most portable audio devices.
