1:2 HDBaseT extender distributor

The VM-2HDT takes a single HDMI source and sends it over two RJ-45 HDBaseT outputs for long-reach distribution. It supports video up to 4K@60Hz (4:2:0) 24bpp and passes HDCP 1.4 protected content. An additional HDMI loop output allows a local display or daisy-chaining another unit. The unit is built for professional AV installations needing reliable signal extension.

Aluminium MegaTool enclosure with convection cooling

The aluminium chassis measures 19.00cm x 11.60cm x 2.70cm and weighs 0.5kg, using passive convection ventilation with no fan noise. Front-panel indicator LEDs show output status, input presence, communication link and power at a glance. Twelve DIP switches and an EDID setup button handle configuration without software. A mini-USB port provides RS-232 access for firmware upgrades, while a 3.5mm mini jack and 3-pin terminal block extend IR and RS-232 control signals alongside the video.

Bundled 5.2V DC 4A power supply

The included 5.2V DC 4A power adapter delivers the 5V DC 1.6A the unit requires, so no separate sourcing is needed. This allows immediate deployment in rack or desktop setups. The extender works with any HDBaseT 1.0 compliant receiver such as the TP-580R, reaching 40m at 4K and 70m at 1080p over standard category cable. It does not suit installations needing HDCP 2.2 or full 4:4:4 colour sampling at 4K60.

Questions about this item

What resolution does the HDBaseT 1.0 interface cap at in practice?

The HDBaseT 1.0 link supports up to 4K@60Hz 4:2:0 24bpp, with a maximum reach of 40m at that resolution and up to 70m at 1080p.

What rack or surface mounting does the MegaTool aluminium enclosure need?

The unit measures 19.00cm wide, 11.60cm deep and 2.70cm high, weighing 0.5kg, and uses convection ventilation so it requires free airflow around the case.

How is the RS-232 firmware port accessed and what step is often missed?

Firmware upgrades use the Mini-USB female connector; the common mistake is connecting to the 3-pin terminal block RS-232 port instead, which is for control signals only.
