Kramer Electronics 50-80022090 TP-580R HDMI conferencing device

SKU CH-5XKY-EB271 MPN 50-80022090

Receives 4K UHD HDMI, RS-232 and IR over twisted pair up to 40 metres at 4K or 70 metres at 1080p

  • 4K UHD video up to 40 metres over twisted pair
  • 2 Gbps data rate for uncompressed HDMI signals
  • Bidirectional RS-232 and IR control for remote management
  • HDBaseT technology extends 1080p signals up to 70 metres
  • HDCP compliant with EDID pass-through for display compatibility

4K UHD HDMI receiver

The Kramer TP-580R receives HDMI, bidirectional RS-232 and IR signals over twisted pair cabling. It supports resolutions up to UHD 4:2:0 with a maximum data rate of 10.2 Gbps. HDCP compliance and EDID pass-through ensure compatibility with protected content and display handshakes.

HDBaseT twisted pair link

The receiver works with a compatible transmitter to extend signals up to 70 m at 1080p or 40 m at 4K using Kramer BC-HDKat6a cable. Bidirectional RS-232 and IR interfaces allow remote control and status requests from either end. Non-Kramer CAT 6 cable may not achieve the same ranges.

10.2 Gbps maximum data rate

This bandwidth ceiling determines whether the unit can handle your required resolution and colour depth. Signals at 4K are limited to 4:2:0 chroma subsampling within the 3.4 Gbps per graphic channel budget. Buyers needing full 4:4:4 at 4K or higher refresh rates cannot use this receiver.

Questions about this item

Does the TP-580R need any firmware updates or replaceable parts over time?

The TP-580R has no user-serviceable parts and no firmware mechanism is described, so no scheduled maintenance or component replacement is required.

What is the maximum 4K cable run before the signal degrades on this receiver?

The HDBaseT link reaches 40 metres (130 feet) at 4K UHD 4:2:0, and 70 metres (230 feet) at 1080p when using Kramer BC-HDKat6a cable.

How much heat or fan noise does the TP-580R produce during all-day operation?

The unit is passively cooled with no fan, so it runs silently; surface temperature stays low thanks to the 10.2 Gbps chipset's efficient design.
