Compatible printers and purpose

This black toner refill kit is built for the HP Color LaserJet 5500 and 5550 printer families. It replaces the HP 645A and C9730A cartridges and is intended for offices that want to keep those machines running without buying new OEM units.

What the reset chip and instructions add

The kit includes a reset chip that lets the printer recognise the refilled cartridge as full. Step-by-step instructions guide the user through the refill process so the cartridge can be reused instead of discarded.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

It suits administrators who are comfortable refilling cartridges and want to extend the life of existing 5500 or 5550 hardware. Buyers who need colour toner or who prefer a factory-sealed cartridge should look at other options.

Questions about this item

Will the reset chip need replacing again after another refill?

The kit includes a reset chip for the C9730A 645A cartridge; it is replaced during this refill, and a new chip would be required for any future refill cycle.

What stops the cartridge from printing continuously at full coverage?

The toner supply is rated at five percent coverage, so sustained full-page printing will exhaust the refill well before the rated page count is reached.

Does the refill process change the heat or noise of the 5500 or 5550 printer?

The refill kit restores toner only; it does not alter the printer’s fuser temperature, fan speed or power draw during all-day operation.
