1/2" T-Well Temperature Gauge

This Legend Valve gauge monitors boiler or radiator water temperature through a 1/2" male NPT thermowell. It is intended for HVAC technicians and facility managers who need local temperature indication on hydronic heating systems.

Installation and common issues

The gauge threads into a 1/2" female NPT fitting on the boiler or piping. A wrench flat on the thermowell allows tightening without stressing the dial case. Cross-threading or over-tightening can damage the brass threads and cause leaks. The probe must sit fully inside the thermowell for accurate readings.

60-280°F operating range

The dial reads from 60 to 280 degrees Fahrenheit, covering typical hydronic heating temperatures. Systems that operate above 280°F or require sub-ambient readings will exceed this gauge's scale. California Proposition 65 warnings apply to this product.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the Legend Valve 800-653 is reading correctly after installation?

Compare the gauge reading against a known reference thermometer at the same point in the system; the scale covers 60 to 280°F, so the needle should track within the marked range during normal operation.

What components come with the Legend Valve 800-653 and what must be sourced separately?

The package includes the 2" temperature gauge, 1/2" MNPT thermowell and 1" probe; pipe sealant or thread tape for the NPT connection and any required piping fittings are not included.

Should I choose the 60–280°F version or a different range for a hydronic heating loop?

The 60–280°F scale matches typical hydronic supply temperatures; select this version when your design temperatures fall inside that window.
