ThinkPad T450S 14.0-in Business Ultrabook

This refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad T450S is a 14.0-in business ultrabook running Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit. It uses an Intel Core i5-5300U processor at 2.30 GHz with 8GB DDR3L memory and a 128GB SATA SSD. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 handles the display output.

Suits mobile professionals needing a light 14

The 14.0-in form factor and 17-hour battery claim support all-day mobile work. Buyers who need a discrete GPU, a touchscreen, or Bluetooth connectivity should look elsewhere. The non-touch screen and integrated graphics limit visual workloads.

12 GB maximum memory supported

The system ships with 8GB installed and the manufacturer specifies a 12 GB ceiling. This single limit decides whether the laptop can handle your intended multitasking or virtual-machine workloads.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 2.5" 128GB SATA SSD in this ThinkPad T450S?

Remove the bottom cover screws, slide the drive into the SATA bay, secure it with the caddy screw, then reconnect the cover before powering on.

Which memory modules will I need when the 8GB DDR3L SODIMM requires replacement?

Use a single 4GB or 8GB DDR3L SODIMM; the board supports up to 12GB total across its two slots.

At what point does the integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 become the bottleneck during sustained workloads?

The GPU limits 3D rendering and video encoding long before the i5-5300U reaches thermal throttle.
