14-inch Ultrabook for mobile professionals

The Lenovo IdeaPad U400 is a 14-inch ultrabook with an aluminium chassis in gunmetal finish. It ships new with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, an Intel Core i5-2450M processor, 6 GB of DDR3 memory and a 500 GB hard drive. Discrete AMD Radeon HD 6470M graphics supplement the integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 for multimedia tasks.

Check OS support and storage type before ordering

This unit comes with Windows 7 Home Premium, an operating system that no longer receives security updates from Microsoft. Verify that your software and network environment can run on this platform. The 500 GB drive is a traditional hard disk, not a solid-state drive, so boot and load times will be slower than SSD-equipped alternatives.

Suits buyers needing a lightweight legacy Windows

The slim profile and sub-5 lb weight suit users who need a portable device for older Windows-dependent applications. Buyers who require modern OS security patches, solid-state storage speed, a touchscreen, or higher-resolution displays should consider other options.
