Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 Gaming Laptop

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 is a 15.6-inch gaming laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-3630QM processor. It ships with Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit and includes a Blu-ray RW drive. This configuration targets users who want a multimedia-focused portable system with discrete graphics.

16GB DDR3 RAM and 2TB SSD Capacity

The system provides 16GB of DDR3 memory and a 2TB solid-state drive for fast boot times and ample storage space. This capacity handles large media libraries and modern multitasking workloads comfortably. Integrated graphics would limit performance in current AAA titles at high settings.

Backlit Keyboard UltraNav Touchpad Connectivity

A backlit keyboard and ThinkPad UltraNav touchpad support low-light productivity and precise navigation. Three USB 3.0 ports and Bluetooth 4 enable fast peripheral connections. The 5.9 lb chassis and Ultrabay design add flexibility for optical media or expansion.

Questions about this item

Will the USB 3.0 ports on this Y500 work with my older USB 2.0 mouse and external hard drive?

Yes, the three USB 3.0 ports are backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices so your existing mouse and hard drive will function normally.

How can I verify the NVIDIA GeForce GT650M graphics card is active after I install a game?

Open the NVIDIA Control Panel, select the game executable, and confirm the GT650M is set as the preferred graphics processor for that program.

Does the box include a Blu-ray disc to watch movies, or do I need to buy one separately?

The laptop has a Blu-ray RW drive for reading and writing discs; blank or pre-recorded Blu-ray media is not included and must be purchased separately.
