Legion 5i 15 gaming laptop

The Lenovo Legion 5i 15 is a gaming laptop built around an Intel Core i7-14700HX processor with 20 cores and 28 threads. It pairs that CPU with a GeForce RTX 5070 laptop GPU carrying 8 GB of video memory. A 15.1 inch WQXGA OLED panel running at 165 Hz handles the display, while 32 GB of DDR5 memory and a 1 TB PCIe SSD provide the workspace. Windows 11 Home comes pre-installed.

Who this suits

Creators and competitive players who want a high-refresh OLED screen and a 20-core mobile processor in a 15.1 inch chassis will find the Legion 5i 15 a direct match. The 32 GB DDR5 configuration and 1 TB PCIe drive leave little need for immediate upgrades. Buyers who need an SD card reader or a fingerprint sensor should look elsewhere, as neither is present.

Deciding specification

The 15.1 inch 2560 x 1600 OLED display at 165 Hz is the single specification that decides fit. If your workflow or games benefit from per-pixel contrast and a 165 Hz refresh rate at this resolution, the panel justifies the choice; if you prioritise a different screen technology or aspect ratio, another model will serve you better.

Questions about this item

How long can the i7-14700HX sustain its 5.5 GHz turbo before thermal limits throttle it?

The 20-core processor reaches 5.5 GHz on P-cores, but sustained loads will hit the cooling capacity of the 0.85-inch chassis and reduce clocks to manage heat.

What are the fan noise and surface temperatures like during an all-day gaming session?

The slim 4.4-pound body houses a vapor-chamber cooler; expect audible fan ramp under continuous load and warm keyboard-deck areas near the rear vents.

Which external monitor cables and power adapters do I need to drive the HDMI 2.1 and USB-C DisplayPort outputs?

Use an HDMI 2.1-certified cable for 8K/60 Hz and a USB-C cable rated for DisplayPort 2.1 or 1.4; the included 100 W USB PD adapter covers charging.
