Core specification

The Lenovo Legion 5i 15 is a gaming laptop built around an Intel Core i7-14700HX processor with 20 cores and a 5.5 GHz turbo frequency. It pairs that CPU with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 laptop GPU carrying 8 GB of video memory and a 15.1-inch OLED panel running at 2560 x 1600 resolution and 165 Hz. The system ships with 64 GB of DDR5 memory and a 2 TB PCIe SSD under Windows 11 Home.

Best fit

This configuration suits users who want high refresh-rate OLED visuals and strong multi-threaded performance in a 4.4-pound chassis. The 64 GB memory and 2 TB drive leave little reason to open the case, while Wi-Fi 7 and a full port complement including HDMI 2.1 and two 10 Gbps USB-C connections support external displays and fast storage. Buyers needing a touchscreen, an SD card reader or a lighter ultraportable should look elsewhere.

Deciding spec

The 15.1-inch 2560 x 1600 OLED display at 165 Hz is the single specification that decides suitability; it delivers the colour depth and motion clarity that define the Legion 5i 15 experience.

Questions about this item

What display cable do I need to run the 15.1" OLED at 165Hz from the USB-C port?

Use a USB-C cable rated for DisplayPort 2.1 bandwidth; the port on this laptop supports DP 2.1 and will drive the external panel at 165Hz with that cable.

Will my USB 3.2 Gen 1 hub work with the 5Gbps USB-A ports on this laptop?

Yes, the three USB-A ports each run at 5Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 1), so any Gen 1 hub will operate at its full rated speed.

How can I verify the RTX 5070 is active after setup?

Open Task Manager, select the Performance tab, choose GPU 0 and confirm it shows NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 with 8 GB dedicated memory.
