Compact All-in-One Desktop

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720q Tiny integrates a 22-inch FHD IPS display with an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8700 hexa-core processor, 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB SSD. It ships with Windows 10 Pro, a USB keyboard and a USB mouse for immediate deployment in office or home workspaces.

Thermals and Power in Daily Use

The 65 W processor runs inside a micro form-factor chassis that relies on a compact internal cooling solution. Typical office workloads keep fan noise low and power draw modest, while sustained multi-core tasks will raise both within the limits of the small enclosure.

Upgrade Path and Fit

This unit replaces a traditional tower-and-monitor combination where desk space is at a premium. The jump is worthwhile for users who need a complete, ready-to-run system with a built-in 22-inch screen, but it does not suit buyers who require discrete graphics, internal drive bays beyond the single 2.5-inch slot, or user-accessible memory expansion past 16 GB.

Questions about this item

How is the 2.5" 512 GB SSD installed in the Micro chassis, and what step is often missed?

The 2.5" drive fits into the internal bay and connects to the motherboard; the step many miss is fastening the retaining screw so the SSD cannot move inside the compact case.

What memory upgrade will this system need later, and what is the maximum supported?

It uses DDR4 UDIMM modules and supports up to 32 GB total, so a future upgrade would add or replace sticks within that limit.

What thermal limit appears first when the i7-8700 runs at 4.60 GHz under sustained load?

The 65 W processor will hit its thermal throttle point before the tiny chassis can dissipate the heat, reducing clocks to stay within the power envelope.
